My Career

So, what do I call myself, exactly? I’ve been asking this question for years. I have a degree in graphic design and started out as a general designer who mostly worked on printed posters, booklets, infographics and sales sheets for IT channel vendors like HP or Cisco. As my career progressed, I realized that designing for brand and printed materials would not be enough. I would need to understand how to design and eventually develop digital experiences.

Now, on any given day, you can find me writing frontend code, designing a website. laying out a booklet, art directing a photoshoot, directing a freelance designer or even editing a video.

See what I mean?

A willingness to continuously learn has driven a “Swiss army knife” approach to my career. And in doing so, bridging the gap between design and development has proven to be my career strengths.

My Life

I live in Portland, Oregon with my amazing wife and kids. On most weekends and evenings, you can catch us watching college football, going on a hike or checking out a new brewery. Pre-COVID, we travelled often, mostly to Ohio and Florida and hope to return to that. Until then, Oregon’s beautiful coast, mountains or wineries will have to do.

My other interests include weight lifting, and listening to a good podcast or audiobook.
